Spoilers For The FBI Season Finale Below :

Season 7 of FBI has been such an incredible season, but this finale is what brings this season to the top of my FBI season rankings. It truly is a one-of-a-kind episode, no one could have predicted the events of this episode, let alone the cliff-hanger. Honestly, I would argue that this episode is the best of the entire series.
This episode doesn’t give us a moment to breathe, right from the start of the episode Jubal meets with an informant, the informant only has enough time (before being killed) to notify Jubal that 26 Fed is being targeted by a plan called A New Day – the name of the episode. A clear indicator that this episode was going to be high stakes for the team.

Jubal manages to escape the attack and find his way to a store to bandage up his arm that had been shot. In the process an FBI agent Maxine appears to come to the rescue but instead tries to kill him. Thankfully Jubal managed to escape another attempted murder and make his way safely back to 26 Fed. One of my personal favourite back and forth conversations of this episode was Isobel wishing to keep Jubal safe.
Jubal ends up having the heat turned onto him by ADIC Reynolds but is saved by Isobel when she states that she would put her job on the line for Jubal and is adamant that he is not involved. We move to a tense moment where Maggie and OA are confronted by NYPD due to them breaking into the informants house. This is where they find a USB containing the information on the attack due to take place on 26 Fed.
This is where we learn that explosive phones have been passed to the FBI agents. Isobel goes to see ADIC Reynolds about the phones to confirm when he received his issued phone. We don’t have a moment to breath before we see Reynold’s phone explode forcing Isobel backwards cutting straight to a commercial break.
ADIC Reynolds was clearly the target as Simon King comes into the room to check that he was definitely killed. We witness Jubal notify the Joc that time for grief can happen later, giving us a slight confirmation that Isobel was killed in the blast. The Joc is barely able to start diving into the attack before they are placed on administrative leave by Simon King, much to everyone’s dismay. Maggie then gives us full confirmation that Isobel was killed, I thought it was just a small moment between Maggie and Scola after Isobel was killed but she was passing him a note, letting him know where Dani and he needed to meet them.

The best part of this episode was the reveal that Isobel was in fact alive but needed to be seen as dead. My Jaw was already dropped from her death but her walking round the corner genuinely hitched my breath, I’ve never been so happy to see a dead character be alive.
My quote of the week comes from OA when he states to Isobel – “I’d rather take orders from a ghost than a traitor any day” when she asked for the team to confirm that they are okay with joining the fight against King. The team has always been good at working their way out of a Jam and with CI’s and a fake proposal to King they manage to draw Forefront to them.
After multiple epic fight scenes, a near death by train and big explosions, OA finishes the fight by smacking his gun into the last remaining dirty agent. We have one of the most satisfying scenes play out with Isobel overpowering King, having him be arrested.
My anxiety for the last five minutes was so high and apparently rightly so, the episode ending with Isobel passed out with no pulse, Jubal shouting her name was horrifying. Since this is a season finale, we will have to wait until the fall to find out Isobel’s fate. Can she really cheat death twice in one episode or have we truly lost her?
Do you think that Isobel will cheat death twice?
