On Friday, April 25, Amiya Cunningham, a 25-year-old woman, headed out for a night of fun with her friends. As the night unfolded, Cunningham reportedly sent a chilling text about feeling like the “vibes were off.” Ultimately, she never made it back home. Instead, police say she was fatally struck and drug by a car. The driver: One of her supposed “friends” she was out with that evening.
Now, after weeks have passed, someone has finally been arrested in the case. But what led to the tragedy? And how will those allegedly involved be held accountable?
The Shade Room’s Justin Carter is diving in and speaking to content creator Gorgeous Doll, who brought online attention to the matter, on ‘TSR Investigates.’
What Happened To 25-Year-Old Amiya Cunningham?
According to Carter, Cunningham and her “friends” were headed to the King of Diamonds club in Atlanta for their night out. This information, corroborated by the 25-year-old’s family, and Gorgeous Doll, who says, based on witness accounts, there was “no bad energy” at the start of the evening.
“… He said, the girls came in his room, sat down, they were passing around the bottle — whatever. He said he had given out Red Bull… Miya was drinking, having fun in the living room, twerking with his homeboy,” Gorgeous explained, recalling a witness account.
However, per Carter, a friend named Alex was eager to leave the pregame residence and get to the club. This reportedly sparked a tiff between Alex and Amiya. Despite this, the night carried on, and the group headed to the club in three separate vehicles.
“At some point, while they’re driving there, Miya texts him, ‘I should’ve rode with u,’” Gorgeous says, recalling Miya’s apparent text messages to the friend who housed the pregame but rode in a separate car from her.
Per Gorgeous, the friend’s car missed the exit to the club. However, when it arrived at the correct exit, the friend noticed an ongoing accident — an apparent run-over collision.
“He started walking up, and he saw that it was Miya — he started crying hysterically,” she added.

Per Gorgeous, Cunningham was revived four times at the scene. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old would ultimately succumb to her injuries.
