A “Final Destination” screening in Argentina took a terrifyingly ironic turn when part of the movie theater ceiling collapsed mid-film, turning the fictional horror on screen into a real-life nightmare.

The incident occurred during a showing of “Final Destination: Bloodlines” in La Plata, just days after the film’s release. As the audience watched a movie centered around freak accidents and unavoidable fate, a chunk of the ceiling suddenly gave way, injuring a woman celebrating her birthday.

Fans of the “Final Destination” franchise were quick to point out the eerie parallel: when fate comes calling, even the theater isn’t safe.

What was meant to be a spontaneous birthday celebration quickly spiraled into a real-life horror story for one Argentinian woman, at the worst possible movie.

On May 19, 29-year-old Fiamma Villaverde from Berisso, Argentina, took her 11-year-old daughter and a friend to a local movie theater in La Plata to catch “Final Destination: Bloodlines.” It was an unplanned outing sparked by cheap tickets and birthday vibes.

“We hadn’t planned on going to the movies,” Villaverde told Infobae. “It was my birthday, we were out walking, and passed by the cinema. We said, ‘Shall we go?’”

But midway through the screening, the fictional horrors onscreen gave way to a terrifying reality.

A chunk of the theater ceiling reportedly collapsed, striking Villaverde on the shoulder, back, knee, and ankle.

“There was a loud noise. At first we thought it was part of the movie because we were really into it,” she recalled. “But then a chunk fell on me. It didn’t hit my head because I happened to be leaning over the armrest.”

Shaken and bruised, Villaverde headed straight to the ticket counter while staff called for an ambulance. She recalled a manager approaching her and allegedly asking, “How do you want to settle this?” Her response was furious. “Settle what? I’m going to file a complaint. What if it had hit my daughter in the head? You’re irresponsible!”

Though offered a ride to the hospital and medical coverage by theater staff, Villaverde chose to travel to a hospital in Berisso on her own. There, she was diagnosed with trauma from the impact and advised to undergo further X-rays.

“I was furious… I also have several bruises and need another X-ray on my back in a few days,” she said.

The incident has since taken a deeper emotional toll.

“I’m under psychiatric treatment and on medication,” Villaverde shared. “It’s hard for me to be in crowded places. I hadn’t been to the movies in years. I went because it was my birthday, and look what happened.”

Now off work and struggling to care for her daughter, Villaverde, who cleans nightclubs for a living, says she hasn’t been able to return to her job.

“Who’s going to take responsibility for this?” she asked, revealing she’s in contact with a lawyer but has yet to file a formal complaint.

Shocking Footage Shows Gaping Hole In Theater Ceiling After ‘Final Destination’ Collapse

The piece managed not to hit her head as she was slightly titled on the armrest.

Footage shared by fellow moviegoers showed a gaping hole in the theater ceiling and debris scattered across the floor.

“Did anyone have a premonition?!?” one asked, referring to the movie’s plot.

“Oh how this doesn’t help my theater phobia lol,” another admitted. “Glad everyone is at least okay.”

‘Final Destination: Bloodlines’ Is About Escaping Fate

Ironically, “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” released just days before the incident, is all about inescapable fate.

The film, marking the franchise’s first installment in 14 years, follows Iris (played by Brec Bassinger), a young woman who saves diners from a deadly disaster, only to trigger a curse that haunts her bloodline. Notably, it features a record-breaking stunt involving the oldest person ever set on fire for a film, 71-year-old Yvette Ferguson, who came out of retirement for the explosive opening scene.

For Villaverde, though, the most chilling moment wasn’t in the script. It was the collapse from above, and the haunting thought of what could have been.
