Russia has offered political asylum to Elon Musk as tensions between the tech mogul and President Donald Trump continue to heat up. This development follows explosive comments from Trump’s former aide, Steve Bannon, who publicly called for Musk’s deportation, labeling him a “parasitic illegal immigrant.”
According to Metro UK, Bannon’s inflammatory remarks have reignited debate about Musk’s immigration history. “Illegal alien’s gotta be deported,” Bannon claimed, asserting that Musk’s legal status was questionable—despite the billionaire being a naturalized U.S. citizen for years.

Meanwhile, Dmitry Novikov, the First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on Internal Affairs, told Russian state media that Musk could be considered for political asylum in Russia “if the opportunity ever arises.” ‘[I do not think] he will need political asylum, but if he does need it, Russia, of course, could provide it.’ Novikov reportedly said.
Elon Musk Fires Back After Trump’s Disappointment Goes Public
The public beef between Musk and Trump escalated after the President made scathing remarks in a press conference. Trump claimed Musk only began criticizing him after he proposed cutting the electric vehicle (EV) mandate. “He only developed a problem when he found out I would cut the EV mandate,” Trump said. “I would’ve won Pennsylvania regardless of Elon.”
In response, Musk hit back on X, formerly Twitter, saying:
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.”
This isn’t the first time Musk has clashed with Republican figures. After distancing himself from both major parties, Musk has publicly aligned with libertarian ideals, often criticizing government mandates and centralized policies.
