Amanda Seyfried has confirmed that Jennifer’s Body 2 is happening. However, she will only return on one condition.
Jennifer’s Body has become a cult favorite despite mixed reviews upon its release in 2009. Seyfried, who previously offered an optimistic update in March, starred as Anita “Needy” Lesnicki — the best friend of the titular character.
What is the one condition for Amanda Seyfried to return for Jennifer’s Body 2?
During Variety’s “Actors on Actors” series, Seyfried sat down with actor Adam Brody to chat about their careers, ongoing projects, and their time together filming Jennifer’s Body. The two worked together for the Karyn Kusama-directed movie and reunited a few years later for the 2013 biographical drama Lovelace.
While she didn’t provide any further details about Jennifer’s Body 2, Seyfried confirmed that a sequel is in development. She also didn’t hesitate to mention that she wouldn’t be doing the sequel without her co-star Megan Fox.
“We’re making another [Jennifer’s Body]. Are you going to do it?” Seyfried confirmed, asking Brody if he’ll return for the sequel.
“I heard. I wasn’t contacted. I died [in the first one],” Brody responded. The Nobody Wants This actor played Nikolai Wolf, the frontman of the fictional indie rock band Low Shoulder.
Seyfried then revealed, “So did Megan Fox, and I’m not doing it without her.”
Although Seyfried confirmed that a sequel is in the works, there is still no news about whether or not key characters will be returning. In the movie, Low Shoulder sacrifices Jennifer in exchange for fame, only for her to return as a flesh-eating demon who enjoys killing men. Needy then killed the band in the end for their involvement in Jennifer’s transformation and all the deaths that followed.
Last year, writer Diablo Cody also told BloodyDisgusting that she’d gladly work on a sequel, saying she’s “not done with Jennifer’s Body.” The film also stars Johnny Simmons as Chip Dove, J. K. Simmons as Mr. Wroblewski, Kyle Gallner as Colin Gray, and more.
