Evelyn Lozada is serving up the deets in a new interview, dishing on her reaction when her daughter Shaniece Hairston told her she was pregnant with The Game’s baby. The ‘Basketball Wives’ star is now living her best life being a first-time grandmother to her grandson, Blaze Taylor, as she also opened up on Shaniece and Game’s co-parenting relationship. Her comments on the pair come shortly after Shaniece revealed she was now a “single mom.” Here’s the lowdown…

Evelyn Recalls Her Relief Over The Game Being The Daddy
When Shaniece broke the news to her mom she was expecting, Evelyn was pressed to know who was responsible for that bun in the oven. “I was like, ‘Well, who’s the dad?’ You know?” Evelyn spilled to In Touch in an interview published on Tuesday, June 10. But when Shaniece revealed it was The Game, Evelyn said she felt an instant sense of peace come over her.
Why? Apparently, she already knew that the ‘Like Father, Like Son’ lyricist is a solid parent to his three other kids, Harlem, 21, King, 18, and Cali, 14.
“Knowing that he is a great dad, I knew my grandson was gonna be fine,” Evelyn shared, giving The Game his flowers for being a good dad. She even praised the co-parenting relationship between him and Shaniece, referring to it as “great.”
With that said, however, Evelyn has also advised her daughter to maintain a healthy bond with her child’s father by keeping things intact. Sharing a healthy co-parenting relationship with The Game would ultimately make “everything better for your kid,” she said.
And speaking of Blaze, Evelyn can’t stop gushing over her grandson. The baby boy is already said to be hitting some major milestones as he’s in his early stage of learning how to walk. “His crawl is interesting,” she said. “It’s not like he drags himself through the floor. But now, he’s going from that to standing, and I’m like, ‘Oh, my God!’” Evelyn said. Grandma’s clearly shook at how fast her grandbaby’s growing.
Shaniece’s “Single Mom” Reveal Had The Internet In A Frenzy
Now, let’s talk about the plot twist that had the Roomies gagged! Shaniece recently got all the way real on her podcast, ‘Drop the Lo.’ During the episode, she opened up about the struggles of dating as a single parent. “I think it was just such an insecurity of dating as a mom,” she told guest Anansa Sims. Shaniece shared how she sometimes worried guys wouldn’t romantically want her because of her son.
Social media users had their eyebrows raised, ‘cause everybody thought Shaniece and The Game were a whole thing after welcoming their child in late 2024! Fans had receipts, too, like that cozy pic where Shaniece was perched on The Game’s lap, with both of ‘em matching in all black and looking like a whole couple. But Evelyn’s comments seem to confirm the pair are strictly co-parenting and keeping it cute for Blaze’s sake.
When Did Shaniece And The Game Welcome Their Baby?
The Game broke the internet back in December 2024 when he announced Blaze’s arrival, just weeks after his 45th birthday. He posted a heart-melting snap of his newborn, captioning it, “Beautiful baby overload. ‘Blaze Taylor.’ I love you son.”
Meanwhile, Shaniece was glowing in her Instagram Stories, cheesing in that snap with The Game. Sis was serving looks, sitting pretty on his lap, and the all-black fits had fans thinking these two were Hollywood’s newest couple.
However, as Evelyn already mentioned, the pair is still simply parenting their son together at this point, and that appears to be their primary focus.
