Addison Rae is joining the growing list of celebrities speaking out against ongoing immigration crackdowns, marking a sharp contrast from her once-controversial brush with Donald Trump.

The 24-year-old rising music star took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to express support for the National Immigration Law Center (NILC), just as anti-ICE protests erupted across the country in response to Trump’s latest wave of deportation efforts and his military-style birthday parade in Washington, D.C.

Addison Rae’s message is stirring mixed reactions online, especially given her past run-in with controversy over her perceived political leanings.

“I’m so disappointed and disturbed by what is happening across our nation,” Addison Rae wrote. “This country could not exist without immigrants. Every human being deserves the right to exist in an environment that makes them feel safe, lovingly protected, and embraced.”

This appears to be a stark contrast to her previous political moves.

Back in 2021, Addison Rae went viral after being caught on camera greeting Donald Trump at UFC 264 in Las Vegas. The clip, uploaded by the NELK Boys, showed the “Obsessed” singer approaching Trump ringside and saying, “It’s nice to meet you,” prompting swift backlash and accusations of political favoritism.

Now, fans were quick to notice the difference in views.

“‘She didn’t do anything.’ Yes she did she literally said blm was a cult, was giddy to meet Trump and encouraged her friends to say the n word and y’all are a bunch of losers if you stan her,” one X (formely Twitter) user wrote.

“Hypocrisy,” another said of Addison Rae, to which someone else responded, “At its finest.”

Critics also resurfaced earlier claims that Rae had once registered to vote as a Republican in 2019, which only fueled the speculation about her views.

As The Blast reported, Rodrigo wrote, “I’ve lived in LA my whole life and I’m deeply upset about these violent deportations of my neighbors under the current administration. LA simply wouldn’t exist without immigrants.”

Ortega echoed similar sentiments in a powerful post that read, in part, “The world is crying all over. People in LA are being torn away from their everyday lives & love… Innocent civilians in Iran are caught in the middle of warfare… Palestinian cries are still being buried in everyday media.”

Addison Rae has previously addressed her apparent support for Donald Trump.

In a 2021 interview with the Los Angeles Times, Rae claimed, “I mean, I don’t support Trump. And if someone does, that’s their opinion and I respect everyone’s opinion, for each their own.”

She added, “But it’s very rare on occasion that you ever get to meet a former president… introducing myself does not mean I stand behind anything that any respective person condones.”

However, fans aren’t shying away from calling out her “hypocrisy,” and begging her to just “tell the truth.”
