More Details On The Passing Of Ahmonique Miller At The Unlicensed Recovery House Hours After Her BBL Surgery
According to NBC 6 South Florida, Miller and her younger sister, Kiera Barnes, traveled to Miami in March to undergo a Brazilian butt lift. Per the sisters’ mother, Wakeelah, they underwent the surgery at Avana Plastic Surgery Clinic. Afterward, they went to a home nearby, advertised as “Keyla’s Recovery House.”
Per PEOPLE, Ahmonique took a nap between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. However, when 9:30 p.m. came and she was still not awake, her sister noticed she was “unresponsive” and “cold” to the touch.
Subsequently, 911 was called, and when they arrived at the location, they noted the house was “an illegal post-plastic-surgery recovery home.” Additionally, they found Ahmonique “exhibiting signs of rigor mortis,” “heavily bandaged,” and lying “face down.”
Ultimately, the mom’s time of death was declared as 10:26 p.m.
More Details On The 28-Year-Old Mom’s Cause Of Death
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s office lists Ahmonique’s date of passing as March 7, 2025. Additionally, NBC 6 South Florida reports that the medical examiner ruled the 28-year-old’s death was caused by a “combination of prescription and designer street drugs.” Specifically, the outlet notes that the cause of death was listed as “acute combined drug toxicity.”
The drugs found in Ahmonique’s system were “a mix of the prescription painkiller oxycodone and an unregulated drug, called bromazolam.” Furthermore, the medical examiner’s report asserted that bromazolam is a “potent designer…[drug] commonly found in counterfeit pills or powders.” It reportedly hinders breathing and increases the risk of death during sleep.
Lastly, the report noted that the use of the substances in the hours after the procedure resulted in Ahmonique’s passing. It added that there was no indication of “acute surgical complications.”
“I have to remind myself every day that this is real,” Wakeelah told NBC 6 South Florida in April. “She’s not calling, she’s not going to send a text and… Ahmonique is not coming back. My daughter’s supposed to be here with her daughter and unfortunately, she’s not.”
In addition, a preliminary report from police added that the owner of the apparent recovery house, Keyla Oliver, admitted to giving Ahmonique an “unknown number of muscle relaxers from Kiera’s prescription and two Percocet’s from an ‘unlabeled pill bottle.’”
“As far as we know, her actual prescription was never picked up from the pharmacy,” her mother explained to the outlet.
Per PEOPLE, Ahmonique leaves behind a 1-year-old daughter.
