It’s double the caps, gowns, and graduation photos over at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School in Long Island, New York, where 15 sets of twins will walk the stage together.
Yep, you read that right—30 fraternal twins are graduating in the same senior class of nearly 500 students. According to ABC News, it’s a record-breaking moment for the school and a heartwarming one for the community. Some of these twins have known each other since kindergarten, after their parents met through a local twins club, and even take vacations together.
Not the First Twin Takeover at This School
While this year’s twin total is impressive, it’s not the school’s first time making headlines for graduating a large group of multiples. Back in 2014 and 2015, the school also celebrated 10 sets of twins in its senior classes.
And it’s not slowing down—next year’s incoming freshman class already has nine sets of twins, proving something must be in the water out in Plainview.
More Twin Graduations Across the Country
It’s not just New York seeing this twin phenomenon. Last year, a Boston middle school had a graduating class that included 23 sets of twins, and schools in California and Maryland also reported graduating 14 and 10 pairs, respectively..
What Comes Next for the Twins?
For most of the twin pairs at Plainview-Old Bethpage, graduation isn’t the end of their journey together—but for some, college will be their first real separation.
Many of the twins shared with ABC News that while they’re excited about the next chapter, they’re also ready to step into their own identities, especially those heading off to different schools.
One student said, “We could have went to the same college, but we just wanted to be able to be independent since we’ve been with each other forever,”
