Nelly Clears The Air And Says He & Snoop Dogg Always Put On For The Black Community
Nelly slid into The Shade Room recently and clapped back at folks coming for him over his performance at Donald Trump’s Inaugural Liberty Ball. The St. Louis emcee didn’t waste any time going off and even brought Snoop Dogg into the convo since folks dragged him for hitting the state at Trump’s Crypto Ball. But Nelly made it crystal clear, he told trolls to check their stats, because he and Snoop have always been about the culture and have held down Black communities for years.
“I’ll put whatever up me and Snoop do more in the community and have been doing for over 20+ years against any of you that are on here just talking trash and have no stats to back up what you mean to the community .. from the Black families that we employ to the black children that we help every day and all year through our nonprofits,” Nelly wrote.
Nelly Calls Out Kamala Harris’ DA History
Chile, Nelly wasn’t done yet. Even though he didn’t name-drop Kamala Harris, folks realized that he threw some shade her way regarding her past role as a District Attorney. He also doubled down, saying he never campaigned for Trump or Harris and never told people who to vote for.
“And on top of that we are “Black men” married to beautiful Black women with Black children .. should be inspiring to most but some of y’all have a problem with because “the prosecutor who has probably locked up more Black than we’ve helped woman of color with the white husband did not win the election .. again I reiterate, I did not campaign for anyone. I do not tell people who to vote for. I respect and love our country from top to bottom good and bad,” he continued.
Rapper Doubles Down On Remaining Neutral & Shuts Down Rumors About Endorsing Trump
On top of stepping into The Shade Room, Nelly also chopped it with Ebro Darden on Hot97 about where he stands politically. He kept it real and said he never endorsed Trump, he’s just always respected the office. “What you have is respect for office. I never endorsed any president.”
The ‘Ride Wit Me’ rapper also said folks love to twist the story to fit whatever they disagree with, instead of paying attention to what was actually said and done.
“And it’s great how people spin narratives to best fit whatever they’re against. Instead of giving a brother the exact fundamental of what he did and what he said. Nobody’s doing that anymore… everybody is just ‘oh oh if you did this, you’re for him,” Nelly added.
He also went on to drop receipts, letting folks know he’s done great things for the country.
“I’ve done things all around this country. I’ve entertained the troops, nobody brought that up. I’ve stayed a commitment in my community and I have a beautiful Black family.”
Here’s What Nelly Previously Said About Trump’s First 100 Days
Nelly has been swerving the shade and staying neutral for a while now. In April, TMZ caught up with him and asked how he felt about Trump’s first 100 days. The musician admitted that he always keeps a positive mindset no matter what happens.
“I’m all for everybody staying positive about any and everything. You know what I’m saying? I’m a glass-half-full type of guy, and I just am more empowered in bringing people together and making sure we all get what we need, when we need it and why we need it,” he explained.
