**Two Firefighters Killed in Coeur d’Alene Ambush As Shooter Remains Active**
#Socialites, we gotta talk about something tragic and straight-up disturbing out in Idaho. Two people — believed to be brave firefighters — were gunned down while responding to a brush fire near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. According to Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris, this wasn’t just some random incident. At least one shooter is still out there, actively firing on law enforcement officers using what officials are calling “modern-day sporting rifles.”
From the jump, this story has been wild. It started off as a call to put out a small half-acre fire, but now it’s turned into a full-blown manhunt in the Canfield Mountain Natural Area. The terrain is dense, the trails are remote, and residents and hikers are stuck on the mountain while bullets fly.
As reported by Kootenai County Fire and EMS audio on Broadcastify, this fire might not have been natural at all — officials say it may have been set to lure first responders into an ambush.
“We don’t know if there’s one, two, three or four,”Sheriff Norris said, confirming that officers were taking shots from multiple directions.“We will neutralize this threat.”Let that sink in. First responders showed up to save lives, and now we’re mourning them.

Law enforcement is on full alert, and it’s not clear how many people have been hurt beyond the two fatalities. But the situation is so volatile, hikers and residents can’t even get off the mountain.
“This is going to likely be a multiday operation,”Sheriff Norris told reporters.
“It’s going to be a tough next couple hours … I’m hoping that somebody has a clear shot and is able to neutralize because they are not, at this point in time, showing any evidence of wanting to surrender.”
The FBI has already stepped in, deploying tactical and operational support, while state and local officials have the entire area locked down. Kootenai County Emergency Management put out an emergency alert telling everyone in the area to shelter in place and stay out.
**Governor and FBI Respond As Idaho Community Reels From Firefighter Tragedy**
Idaho Gov. Brad Little didn’t hold back when addressing the tragedy, calling the attack “heinous” and expressing heartbreak for the firefighters and their families.
“Multiple heroic firefighters were attacked today while responding to a fire in North Idaho,” Little said in a statement.
“This is a heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters. I ask all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we wait to learn more. Teresa and I are heartbroken.”
Even Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino hopped on X (formerly Twitter) to confirm that federal forces were on the way, calling it a “tactical and operational” emergency. That’s how serious this situation is.
The community is shocked. First responders are being hunted while trying to protect lives, and the public is being told to keep away for safety reasons.
