Big Boi’s Uncle Tragically Killed in Atlanta Road Rage Shooting
Outkast legend Big Boi is mourning a devastating loss — his beloved uncle, Remoin Thomas Patton Sr., was fatally shot in a tragic road rage incident in southwest Atlanta.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, the shooting took place on June 16 on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW. During a heated argument with another driver, Patton — known to family as “Uncle Moonie” — was shot in the back. His vehicle then crashed into an unoccupied house. By the time authorities arrived, Patton had already passed away. He was just 62 years old.
This senseless act has shaken Big Boi’s family and fans alike. The rapper told WSB-TV in a heartfelt statement:
“Everybody who knows Uncle Moonie heart aches. He wasn’t just ‘My’ Uncle, he was Unk to all that met him,” he said. “A moment of rage has in totally pierced the heart of my family forever.”
Two Arrested in Connection With Uncle Moonie’s Death
Police have made two arrests in connection to Patton’s death. On June 20, 32-year-old Janisha Crumbley was taken into custody and charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal. Just four days after the shooting, she was arrested during a traffic stop. She posted a $30,000 bond and was released on June 21.
Then on July 2, 18-year-old Jabyrion Crumbley — believed to be the shooter — turned himself in. He’s now facing multiple charges:
• Murder• Aggravated assault• Possession of a firearm during • the commission of a felony
As of July 4, Jabyrion remains behind bars with no bond.
Authorities have not revealed the motive behind the altercation, but say the investigation is ongoing.
