Squid Game’s Korean adventures might be over but the dystopian drama won’t stop blowing up records for Netflix.
After the third season of the show amassed 60.1M views across its six episodes, which broke the streamer’s record for most views for a show in its first three days, it added another 46.3M views, combining for 106.3M views through two weeks, making it Netflix’s third-biggest show ever through two weeks.
It has also become the third show ever to claim the top three spots on its charts in a single week, after Stranger Things and Money Heist, and the first since 2022.
Season two scored 4.9M views in the week to put it second on the top ten non-English shows, while season one, which has been in the top ten for over 30 weeks, added another 3.8M views
If you’ve seen the final episode (SPOILER ALERT), you’ll understand why Netflix would like to keep the alley way open for potential spinoffs such as the David Fincher-led project that Deadline told you about last year.
Elsewhere, The Old Guard 2 debuted at number one on the English-language film list with 37.5M views. The original of the Charlize Theron-fronted action movie, which is based on the graphic novels by Greg Rucka, was released in 2020 so it’s impossible to make comparisons. However, the original film did spent another week on the top ten list with 9.5M views after adding 3.2M views last week.
