The live-action Legend of Zelda movie from Nintendo and Sony has cast its Zelda and Link.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto shared that Bo Bragason will star as the titular character, with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth playing Link. He attached photos of the pair, seemingly in costume.

“I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,” Miyamato wrote. “I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

He then confirmed the film is set to be released in theaters on May 7, 2027.

English actress Bragason is best known to audiences for her roles in the BBC One series Three Girls as well as The Jetty and Disney+’s Renegade Nell. The 16-year-old Ainsworth, also British, will be most familiar to fans as Miles in the Netflix show The Haunting of Bly Manor and as William in Flora & Ulysses.

This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. (1/2) pic.twitter.com/KA5XW3lwul

Wes Ball, who helmed last year’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is directing the feature. The movie is set to adapt the Nintendo gaming franchise of the same name that launched in 1986, focusing on the young Link and Princess Zelda, who attempt to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil Ganon.

Sony is distributing the film that hails from Nintendo and Avi Arad‘s Arad Productions, Inc. Nintendo representative director and fellow Shigeru Miyamoto produces the feature alongside Arad.
