While major labels are busy chasing TikTok trends and bedroom producers dream of viral moments, a humble group of artists quietly uploaded their remix of A$AP Ferg’s “Work” to SoundCloud in late-2024. None of them could’ve predicted what happened next in 2025.
Back in September, Proppa, Rich DietZ and Smith & Sorren transformed Ferg’s 3x-Platinum hip-hop anthem into tech house gold. With a bassline as thick as a bowl of day-old oatmeal, the rework blew up organically across the world and continues to be played live by Swedish House Mafia, Alesso, Kaskade, Dom Dolla and many more elite DJs.
Tiësto was one of the remix’s earliest supporters, at one point calling it a focal point of his live performances after an interviewer asked: “2025, what’s the song that you play in your set, like ‘They’re gonna go crazy as soon as I play this song?'”
Now, the Dutch electronic music icon has granted the track official status by releasing its revamped version on his storied record label, Musical Freedom, validating months of grassroots momentum. The track, out today, demonstrates how underground dance culture still dictates mainstream taste despite the industry’s desperate attempts to reverse-engineer virality.
