After flying to $198 million at the global box office, the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon is now roaring into home theaters.

Based on Cressida Cowell’s popular book series, the new film is an adaptation of 2010’s hit animated feature and stars Mason Thames as Hiccup, a Viking boy who befriends a dragon named Toothless. Produced by DreamWorks, How to Train Your Dragon is available to buy or rent on digital in 4K Ultra HD on Apple TV, Prime Video and other premium video-on-demand streaming services before it eventually lands on Peacock.

When to Stream How to Train Your Dragon Live-Action Film

Released in theaters on June 13 and produced by DreamWorks, How to Train Your Dragon (2025) is expected to be available to watch on demand on NBCUniversal-owned Peacock around October. (For reference, The Wild Robot hit the streamer about four months after its theatrical premiere date.)

Until then, you can stream the live-action How to Train Your Dragon movie online by renting it for $19.99 or buying it for $29.99 on Apple TV, Prime Video and other PVOD platforms.

Peacock will raise subscription prices by $3 per month on July 23 for new customers and on Aug. 22 for existing subscribers. The best way to lock in Peacock’s current pricing is by signing up for an annual plan at $79.99 for the ad-supported Premium package or $139.99 for the ad-free Premium Plus tier.

Although Peacock doesn’t currently offer a free trial, one way to get the NBCUniversal streaming service for free is with a membership to Instacart+. The on-demand grocery delivery service is $99 per year and includes the ad-supported Peacock Premium plan for as long as you’re an Instacart+ member. Both Peacock Premium and Premium Plus packages include access to over 80,000 hours of movies and TV show episodes, including Oscar-winning films such as Wicked, Oppenheimer and Conclave; family-friendly movies such The Wild Robot, the Trolls franchise and Dog Man; next-day access to NBC and Bravo series such as Love Island, Vanderpump Rules and the entire Real Housewives franchise; original series including Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss, Bupkis, Bel-Air, Poker Face, Meet Cute, A Friend of the Family and more; past seasons of Yellowstone and That ’70s Show; and much more.

Where to Stream How to Train Your Dragon Animated Films

Nominated for two Academy Awards, the first How to Train Your Dragon CG-animated film was released in 2010 and spawned two sequels, How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019). The trilogy is available to stream on demand on Peacock.

All three How to Train Your Dragon animated films are also available to purchase or rent online as a bundle at Apple TV, Prime Video and other streaming video-on-demand platforms.
