Taylor Swift Chooses Silence After Denise Welch Shade

The TV star took aim at Swift during a surprising interview, making comments that ignited fan outrage and media buzz.

However, rather than clap back, Swift is reportedly choosing a different route, again proving that she doesn’t need to speak loudly to be heard.

What started as a casual appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” quickly turned into an unexpected attack on Swift.

Denise Welch, the outspoken mother of 1975 frontman and Swift’s ex, Matty Healy, couldn’t help but stir the pot while discussing her brief connection to the pop superstar.

When asked about Swift’s latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” which is rumored to be inspired in part by Healy, Welch threw subtle shade.

“Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode,” Welch joked. “But being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad I lost.”

The remark drew audible gasps from the studio audience.

Sensing the tension, Welch quickly tried to soften the blow, adding, “Not that I have anything against [Taylor] at all! It was just – it was tricky.”

Welch went on to voice her frustration over Taylor Swift’s choice to publicly reflect on the relationship through music, despite what she implied were prior expectations to keep things private.

She said, “She, listen, you’re not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it.”

While Swift is no stranger to public scrutiny, insiders say she has no plans to retaliate.

In fact, according to a source who spoke exclusively to the Daily Mail, the pop diva is rising above the drama.

“It’s a bit obnoxious in Taylor’s eyes, but she has to take the high road,” the insider revealed. “If there was anything that would be in a future song of Taylor’s—if she were ever to respond—she would respond that way.”

They added,  “But as of right now, she might just let it slide. She is not going to let Denise ruin her day. Taylor respected Denise and will continue to do so, as this will go away very quickly.”

That sentiment perfectly aligns with Swift’s public persona. Despite her well-documented history of turning heartbreak and betrayal into chart-topping songs, she has been more selective in recent years, choosing grace over public confrontation.

In addition to Swift’s decision to remain graceful, she has little reason to dwell on the past, given her current streak of success.

Swift’s relationship with Healy was short but highly publicized.

The two reportedly met back in 2014 when Swift attended a 1975 show in Los Angeles with friends Selena Gomez and Ellie Goulding.

While sparks may have flown then, it wasn’t until early 2023, following her split from longtime partner Joe Alwyn, that Swift and Healy began dating.

They were first linked professionally in 2022, when rumors surfaced that Healy had collaborated on her “Midnights” album. He confirmed they worked together, although no songs from their session were ever released.

Things heated up quickly in 2023. Swift even surprised fans by performing at a 1975 concert in January.

Healy became the subject of backlash for offensive jokes and inappropriate remarks, including some about rapper Ice Spice.
