Ranking All 14 John Lennon Top 40 Solo Hits

Name  Sam Carter, singer for the band Architects.

Best known for  Being a little gobshite on stage with my band.

Current city  I’m currently on a plane flying to Nashville.

Really want to be in  Kyoto, Japan. I’d be sat by the river that flows through the center of the city watching the herons and eagles fly about. That place is magical.

Excited about  I’m excited that Oasis are back together and I’m also excited that we’re touring our new record around the world.

My current music collection has a lot of  Beatles, also a lot of hip-hop.

And a little bit of  Folk.

Preferred format  I love collecting records but I’m also constantly streaming music.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

1

Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles

Easily my favorite band of all time, and I think this is my favorite of their albums—although that does change from time to time. The fact that they were so creative and ahead of the curve is so inspiring to me. I’ve even had the opportunity to meet Paul, which was such a magical moment.

2

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, Oasis

I think you’d be hard-pressed to find someone British who doesn’t love this band, or at least some songs from this album. It’s honestly unreal how good this record is, and it features some magical songwriting. The day they got back together, you could feel how much it meant to everyone in the U.K.

3White Pony, Deftones

Deftones have been one of my favorite bands since I was a kid skating around school. They’ve always felt like the coolest band to me—everything from their artwork to their songwriting is just elite. But this album is really special. It has one of the best vocal performances, in my opinion. Chino is the GOAT.

4

Mordechai, Khruangbin

This might surprise some people, but this is probably one of the bands I listen to almost every day. Everything about them is brilliant. This record is my go-to of theirs, and one I’d recommend to anyone. I was lucky enough to see them in Las Vegas with a couple of good friends—we danced the night away with strangers, and it felt like being back in the ’70s.

5

All Things Must Pass, George Harrison

I think this is my favorite solo record to come from one of the Beatles—and that’s really saying something, because there’s some stiff competition. But this record is just so great. You can hear that George had been sitting on these songs for ages, because it’s just back-to-back brilliance.
