Ellen Greenberg Suicide Ruling ‘Implausible,’ Independent Death Investigator Says

Gina Huynh is again speaking out about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and his conviction. Rather than take her thoughts to social media, she appealed to a judge, sharing why she thinks he deserves bail. Combs is on his second appeal for bail. He wants to be home while waiting for the law to decide his sentencing on two guilty charges of transportation to engage in prostitution. Gina, real name Virginia Huynh, was supposed to take the stand as Victim-3 against Diddy, but dropped out. Now, she’s made it clear she thinks he’s changed for the better.

For context, 55-year-old Diddy was acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. With those on the table, he was facing the possibility of life sentences. Meanwhile, each prostitution-related charge carries a potential maximum of 10 years in prison.

Gina Huynh Tells Judge She’s Not Scared Of Diddy

TMZ first reported that Gina penned a letter asking the judge to let Sean Combs go home with his children. His defense submitted the letter from Hunyh as an exhibit in their latest filing. According to a photo scan of the statement, she described him as a father, family and businessman “who has not been violent in many years.” Though not specific, she said their relationship has “not always been perfect.” However, Gina Hunyh said that Diddy had acknowledged his mistakes and pledged to “make better decisions in the future.”

“I am writing because I do not view Mr. Combs as a danger to me or to the community. This is his first criminal case. Throughout the investigation and proceedings he has been cooperative, respectful and compliant. He has substantial ties to his family and community, including children who depend on him for emotional and financial support. Granting him bond would allow him to continue caring for his family and fulfilling his responsibilities while still subject to the Court’s supervision,” Gina wrote, adding that she can assure the court Diddy will adhere to any release conditions.”

Gina Huynh closed her letter by saying that allowing Diddy to be home “will also support the healing process for all involved.” At the top of the fourth paragraph, she also claimed it was Diddy’s first criminal case, which is not necessarily true. Combs has faced criminal charges in the past and was even acquitted of gun possession charges in 2001.

FACT CHECK: Gina Dropped Out Of Trial As Victim-3

It’s a fact, and the court documents say so. And so did Gina herself. Her statement supporting Combs’ release is the first time she’s self-identified as the mystery witness.

Meanwhile, Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura testified under her name, but the second victim used the pseudonym “Jane.” During the trial, Cassie described a brutal cycle of love bombing, financial and social isolation, and physical, verbal, and sexual abuse. That was an on-and-off again situation that began two years after they met in 2005. It lasted until 2018, the same year that she testified he raped her. “Jane” described similar circumstances and incidents involving “freak-offs” and private sexual encounters with male sex workers under the supervision, direction, and coins of Combs.

Supportive court statement and trial witness dropout aside. Gina Huynh has not always been silent about her own alleged abusive experiences with Diddy. For example, in 2019, she told Tasha K that Sean Combs “stomped on [her] stomach really hard.” She said she kept telling him she couldn’t breathe, and after she started fighting back, he allegedly grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the back of the head.

“He was mentally, emotionally and physically abusing me. He would always compare me to Cassie and tell me that I’m the bad one, she’s a good one,” Gina said. And people around him allowed it to happen, she added.

Those are the type of details Virginia Huynh was likely expected to give on the witness stand in Diddy’s eight-week trial. But days before it began, she changed her tune on prosecutors. The reasons for her withdrawal are still unclear.

Lawyers Want Diddy Out, But Prosecutors Want YEARS Behind Bars

According to the Associated Press, prosecutors said they now expect music mogul Sean Combs could face a prison sentence “substantially higher” than the four to five years they once thought.

Diddy’s lawyers are petitioning for him to be released on $50 million bail while he awaits an Oct. 3 sentencing. However, on Thursday (July 31), they shared the sentencing prediction in a written statement opposing Combs’ release. Prosecutors claimed there’s a higher risk that Sean will flee. But Judge Arun Subramanian will have the final say in his sentence. Also, he can ignore the prosecution’s guidelines as they’re not mandatory. Combs’ lawyers have said they believe the guidelines, if properly calculated, will call for 21 to 27 months in prison.

On the day of the verdict, prosecutors won a bail fight after defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo argued the judge should immediately free Diddy on bail. Subramanian denied the defense request. He said Combs had not met the burden of showing by clear and convincing evidence a “lack of danger to any person or the community.”

In the latest appeal for bail, Agnifilo cited other cases he said were comparable to Combs’ conviction in which defendants got bail. And he cited severe conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Combs has been in custody since his September arrest at a New York hotel. He also said Combs was being treated unfairly for engaging in a “swingers” lifestyle.

“Sean Combs will not be violent to anyone. As we said in court, this jury gave him his life back, and he will not squander his second chance at life, nor would he do anything to further jeopardize his seven children not having a father, and four of his children not having a parent at all,” Agnifilo wrote.

Prosecutors said in their filing Thursday that Combs’ conviction on the prostitution-related counts carried a mandatory requirement that he remain in jail before sentencing, unless he could prove exceptional circumstances. They said he cannot. Prosecutors also said the cases Agniflo cited are irrelevant because of Diddy’s patterned history of violence.

“The defendant’s extensive history of violence — and his continued attempt to minimize his recent violent conduct — demonstrates his dangerousness and that he is not amendable to supervision,” they wrote. “The defendant utterly fails to establish by clear and convincing evidence, as required, that he does not pose a danger to the community.”
