This Monday, Trump announced what he calls a “historic action” to “take the capital back,” and it’s raising eyebrows…

In a press conference, he revealed that he’s placing the D.C. police under federal control and deploying National Guard troops. Why? Well Trump is claiming that crime is way out of control, using that as his justification for this significant escalation.
“This is Liberation Day in D.C., and we’re going to take our capitol back” he declared. Citing Section 740 of the Home Rule Act, he’s trying to seize authority over local law enforcement, arguing that there’s some sort of “special emergency.”
Trump also made it clear that the National Guard will be deployed to the streets to “help restore law and order.” He went so far as to say, “You’re going to have a lot of essentially military, and hinted that actual military forces could come into play if things escalate.
In addition to that, he also told the homeless community in D.C. they need to “move out IMMEDIATELY.” Sure, he said the government would help them find somewhere else to stay, but far from the capital?
The Trump team isn’t backing down, either. His communications director claimed that crime stats are being manipulated. So here we are, with a president who seems more focused on his narrative than the reality on the ground.
Whew! Socialites, what do you think about his latest move? Sound off in the comments box below!
