Sydney Sweeney has found allies in the most unexpected people, and Philip Calvin McGraw, alias Dr. Phil, has now joined her little club of defenders.
The “Euphoria” actress has been under heat following her viral “Great Jeans” advert for American Eagle, which was perceived as arousing antisemitic ideology.
Amid the backlash, Sweeney surprisingly received support from Donald Trump after revelations that she was a Republican. Almost a week later, Dr. Phil has pledged to go all out to support Sweeney.

Dr Phil Vows To Buy American Eagle Jeans To Support Sydney Sweeney

In a recent appearance on “Real Time,” the psychologist addressed the criticisms about the ad while defending the “Anyone But You” star. The 75-year-old slammed the critics who brought in talks of Nazi as they likened Sweeney’s ad to the Holocaust.
“For people to go crazy over that ad and to say that they say she’s got good genes, and for them to say that’s the equivalent of the Holocaust, that this is the same as all of that, is an absolute insult,” the doctor told host Bill Maher, per Fox News.
He continued by emphasizing that the impact of the historical genocide was nowhere near the jingle. “Six million people were killed, six million. Jews were massacred and murdered, and they equate that to a blue jeans ad for a Hollywood actress?” Dr Phil ranted. “What an insult.”

Dr Phil Referenced Sydney Sweeney’s Voting Choices

TV host Maher recalled how the controversy surrounding the commercial exposed “The Handmaid’s Tale” star as a registered Republican, making things more scandalous.
Maher voiced his disappointment over how political allegiance has become such a major issue in America, saying, “I just got to say this is not where I want America to go. It is not a slur that someone is a Republican.”
The “Bull” co-producer countered the media personality, saying that the status would be considered offensive depending on where it was asked. According to Dr Phil, if someone in Hollywood is asked whether they are Republican, it’s a slur, but it isn’t if the same question is asked in the Midwest.
