Jeffrey Epstein’s Confidante Expresses Doubts Over His Suicide Death

The disgraced financier died by suicide in a New York federal prison in 2019, but Maxwell thinks it was due to an “internal situation” in prison.

The Donald Trump administration continues to receive so much heat about how they’re handling the situation, especially after his former ally, Elon Musk, claimed that the president was on the Epstein list.

Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell has broken her silence on the controversies surrounding the death of the disgraced financier.

On Friday, August 22, the Department of Justice released 300 pages of transcripts and audio recordings of Maxwell’s conversation with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, where she voiced her disbelief that her late confidante died by suicide.

Maxwell’s meeting with Blanche happened in July over the course of 2 days, with both of them discussing her knowledge about Epstein’s crimes as well as her opinion about his death.

Maxwell speculated that an “internal situation” within the correctional facility was to blame for his death.

“In prison, where I am, they will kill you, or they will pay — somebody can pay a prisoner to kill you for $25 worth of commissary,” Maxwell said, per People Magazine. “That’s about the going rate for a hit with a lock today.”

Maxwell, who’s currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring, was then asked if she thought somebody on the outside would have wanted Epstein’s death.

She noted that while it is “of course” possible, she didn’t “see it” happening.

“But I don’t know of any reason why, and I don’t believe in the blackmail or in any of this, I don’t think Epstein had a hit on like that,” she continued. “If it is indeed murder, I believe it was an internal situation.”

Questions have been raised about the circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death over the years.

However, Maxwell noted that she didn’t have any firsthand information about the possibility that someone had Epstein killed to “silence” him.

“I do not have any reason to believe that,” she said.

“And I also think it’s ludicrous, because if that — I also happen to think if that is what they wanted, they would’ve had plenty of opportunity when he wasn’t in jail,” Maxwell further explained. “And if they were worried about blackmail or anything from him, he would’ve been a very easy target.”

The recent development comes after the convicted child sex trafficker was moved into a minimum-security federal prison camp in Texas. She was handed a 20-year prison sentence after being found guilty of procuring minors for Epstein to abuse.

Maxwell had been serving her sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Tallahassee in Florida, after which she was moved to the Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Bryan, a minimum-security facility for women in Bryan, Texas.

On the website of the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), FPC Bryan is described as a facility with “dormitory housing, a relatively low staff-to-inmate ratio, and limited or no perimeter fencing,” as opposed to the “double-fenced perimeters” at FCI Tallahassee.

According to People Magazine, a spokesperson didn’t comment on the reason why she was moved but said that custody status is determined by “the level of security and supervision the inmate requires, any medical or programming needs, separation, security measures to ensure the individual’s protection, and other considerations, including proximity to the individual’s release residence.”

Elsewhere in the transcript, Maxwell noted that she never saw Trump and Epstein in a compromising situation amid the backlash that has trailed the president’s administration about the way they’re handling the case.

There have been increased calls from the public for Trump’s administration to release the document about the case, which purportedly has names linked to the late offender, with the pair having links to the same social circle back in the day.

However, Maxwell spoke glowingly of the president in her chat with Blanche, calling him a “gentleman in all respects” and describing him as “friendly” with Epstein, even though she didn’t know how they met.

Maxwell seemingly stressed that Trump was never “inappropriate” with people during the times she encountered the billionaire.

“I certainly saw them together, and I remember the few times I observed them together, but they were friendly,” she said. “I mean, they seemed friendly.”

She noted that she only saw both of them in a social setting, not in private settings.

“I actually never saw the president in any type of massage setting,” Maxwell said. “I never witnessed the president in any inappropriate setting in any way. The president was never inappropriate with anybody. In the times that I was with him, he was a gentleman in all respects.”
