The release date and studio for Gore Verbinski’s Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die have been announced. Verbinski garnered widespread fame for directing the first three Pirates movies: Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003), Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006), and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007). He also helmed The Weather Man (2005), Rango (2011), and A Cure for Wellness (2017).

Verbinski’s sci-fi action-adventure feature Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die has landed at Briarcliff Entertainment and will debut in US theaters on January 30, 2026. Previous releases from Briarcliff include Fahrenheit 11/9 (2018), Sweetwater (2023), Dogman (2024), and Sovereign (2025).

Tom Ortenberg, CEO of Briarcliff, called the movie “wildly original, endlessly entertaining, and unlike anything audiences have seen before” in a statement. He added, “After seeing it, we immediately knew Briarcliff was the perfect partner to distribute Gore Verbinski’s first independent, bonkers movie. We couldn’t be more excited to share his vision with audiences across the country.” (via TheWrap).

Verbinski developed Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die from a script by Matthew Robinson, who previously penned movies such as Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019) and Love and Monsters (2020). The cast includes Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, Juno Temple, Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz, Dino Fetscher, and Anna Acton.

The logline for Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die reads, “A man from the future arrives at a diner in Los Angeles, where he must recruit the precise combination of disgruntled patrons to join him on a one-night-six-block quest to save the world from the terminal threat of a rogue artificial intelligence.”

Verbinski has produced the feature with Robert Kulzer, Denise Chamian, Erwin Stoff, and Oly Obst. At least a considerable portion of the filming happened in Cape Town, South Africa.
