Jezebel Article About Paying ‘Etsy Witches To Curse’ Charlie Kirk Goes Viral

Right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, who was the co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Chaos erupted as attendees fled, with eyewitnesses describing panic and a lack of security. Officials later confirmed no suspect was in custody, though the shot appeared to come from an elevated campus building.

Amid the chaos online was the resurfacing of an article by the feminist website, Jezebel, about paying “some Etsy witches” to “hex” Charlie Kirk, published two days before his fatal shooting.

On September 10, popular pro-gun activist Kirk was gunned down during one of his speaking events, held in Utah.

The incident has sparked immense fury on social media due to its gruesome nature being caught on camera, and the constant issue of gun violence in America.

However, a bizarre and ill-timed article by the feminist site, Jezebel, has raised eyebrows due to its shocking claim about reaching out to witches on Etsy to place a curse on Kirk.

The headline and intro of the now-viral article reads, “We Paid Some Etsy Witches to Curse Charlie Kirk.

If the far-right misogynist with a bad haircut wants to villainize independent women, Jezebel is more than happy to be the hag of his nightmares.”

The author of the article makes their disdain for Kirk known immediately, writing that “the internet has its downsides. Exhibit A: Charlie Kirk.”

They then slammed him for “his obsession with telling women what to do” and took a jab at his “aggressively large head,” before branding Kirk’s online presence as “more irritating than most.”

“That’s when I remembered: there’s Etsy,” the author notes about their quest to find a witch to hex the now-late Kirk.

Etsy is a global online marketplace where shoppers can find unique, handcrafted items that sometimes border on mystical and supernatural.

In the now-viral Jezebel piece, the author noted that it was in a “gray area,” as they questioned the ethics of putting a curse on an individual they don’t know personally.

“Now, is it ethical to curse a man I’ve never met? Probably not. But is it unethical to let him keep talking? Yes,” the author stated.

They then went on to share their experience getting in contact with witches on Etsy, emphasizing that they were not “calling on dark forces to cause him harm” but wanted him to “wake up every morning with an inexplicable zit. I want his podcast microphone to malfunction every time he hits record… To ruin his day with the collective feminist power of the Etsy coven would be my life’s greatest joy.”

The author shared that after going through spells like “Karmic Revenge” and “Sh-t Your Pants Spell,” they realized they had to purchase several for Kirk and eventually bought a “MAKE EVERYONE HATE HIM” spell.

They also purchased a “POWERFUL HEX SPELL” to amplify the effects of the main spell they placed on Kirk.

The author made their spell purchases on Etsy in early August, explaining that by August 24, they became anxious, wondering if they had been “scammed” since nothing had happened to Kirk.

Despite the seemingly disappointing outcome, they reminded themselves, “This is witchcraft, not Amazon. The forces operate on their own schedule.”

The article was eventually published on September 8 and largely went unnoticed until the fatal shooting of Kirk at his rally.

Now the internet is in a frenzy over the potential effect of Jezebel’s curse on Kirk.

The feminist website has, however, put up a disclaimer that “Jezebel condemns the shooting of Charlie Kirk in the strongest possible terms. We do not endorse, encourage, or excuse political violence of any kind.”

Kirk was shot while speaking at a Utah Valley University event on Wednesday. President Donald Trump later announced that the activist had died, as reported by The Blast.

Suddenly, a gunshot echoed through the courtyard. Kirk then quickly went limp as blood poured out, while shocked attendees screamed and scattered in panic.

The Associated Press confirmed the footage was recorded at the Sorensen Center courtyard on the UVU campus.

Initial reports from the university said a suspect had been taken into custody, but law enforcement later told CNN that no arrest had been made.

UVU spokesperson Ellen Treanor also clarified in a statement to the publication that there is currently no suspect in custody.

“Campus is closed and classes have been canceled until further notice,” Treanor said. “We are asking those still on campus to secure in place until police officers can safely escort them off campus.”

Later in the day, Trump confirmed Kirk’s death on Truth Social with a poignant tribute to the late activist.

“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead,” he wrote. “No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”

“He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my sympathies go out to his beautiful wife, Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” Trump concluded.

Following Trump’s announcement, tributes began pouring in across social media.

Former President Barack Obama wrote on X, “We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.”

“An appalling assault on free speech and democracy. Charlie always welcomed debate with anyone. This is disgusting and heartbreaking. RIP Charlie,” TV personality, Piers Morgan wrote on X.
