Reflecting on going public with Trippie Redd cheating on her, Coi Leray said:
“I honestly wish I didn’t go public with it. Because it created so much more problems in my life, personally. Especially, with the father of my child, right? Because I don’t wish bad on nobody, right? But, I was very… I was pregnant and I was vulnerable. I was like f***ked up. It was a hard time to get through.
But, also, when you have a big support system, you can get through anything. You put God first. My best friend Nico is a beast. He don’t play about me. Amina don’t play about me. My mom don’t play about me. My brothers—I have no sisters—I come from a family of all boys, right? So, that’s what helps.”
When asked if she found out while going through Trippie’s phone, Coi said:
“I’ve said it on my song. It’s on my EP. I’ve literally explained the whole entire situation. It’s on my last EP. It’s called, ‘What Happened To Forever.’ I explained literally everything. And I also…I’m not proud of what I’ve done as well, but I’m human. I’m glad that I’m able to tell my story in music, but I’m not proud of what I’ve done. At the end of the day, regardless of whatever me and him went through, I just want us to be the best co-parents that we could be for my daughter.”
Coi Leray On Co-Parenting With Ex Trippie Redd: ‘We’re Absolutely Not Friends, Just Co-Parents’
When asked about her relationship with Trippie Redd right now, Coi Leray said they’re just co-parenting. She added:
“Just co-parenting. We’re trying to figure it out. We’re still new parents, so we’re just trying to figure it out, literally. We’re not friends. Absolutely not. We’re co-parents. ‘Do you want to talk to your daughter?’ ‘Do you want to speak to your daughter? ‘Do you want to see your daughter? ‘This is your daughter.’ It has nothing to do with me—co-parenting is about the child. It has everything to do with the child. If it ain’t about the child, we don’t give a f**k about each other. We don’t care about nothing. Long as our daughter is good and you are okay with seeing your daughter and my daughter is good, that’s it.”
Coi also noted that as far as dropping off her daughter, things look different as Trippie lives in another state and she’s only three months. She added that the two are actively planning how things will work once the baby is older. She also insisted that she will not be a mother to withhold her daughter from the father.
She said, “I would love for her to go with her dad. I’m not one of them people that’s going to be like, ‘Oh, no. You can’t go with your dad.’ Like, I need my break. I would want her to be able to go with her dad. I hope that he’s, you know what I mean?” Coi also shared that Miyoco just saw her father three weeks prior to her interview, which was published on September 15.
Coi Leray Talks Mended Relationship With Father Benzino: ‘He’s Crazy But I Love Him For Him’
Coi also talked about her relationship with her father, Benzino. She recalled their rocky relationship and said, “That’s something I don’t want my daughter to have. I want my daughter to have the best relationship with her father and her grandfather. Regardless of what I went through, I don’t want to project my traumas onto her.”
Coi also shared that her current relationship with her father is in good standing. She explained:
“Me and my dad are good. I feel like we’re at a point where—you know what it is? It’s like your family, your parents—people you love, right—they’re not always going to do what you want them to do. And they’re not going to do things how you want them to do it. So, you have to learn how to just appreciate and just respect them for them and appreciate them for them. And that’s what I’ve learned with my dad. I don’t agree with the sh*t he doing and that I don’t like. That sh*t was like… What’s the song he was just rapping? … He’s crazy. But, I love my dad. and I love that he loves music so much. He don’t give a f**k what nobody say. He always been like that.”
