Tina Knowles has shared her thoughts on what her granddaughter, Blue Ivy, might be like in the music industry after joining her mother Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour.

Her words seem to be taking shape, as Blue Ivy is already making moves to carve out her own identity in music.

Meanwhile, her sibling Rumi Carter is also stepping into the spotlight with a performance that caught many by surprise.

In a recent interview, the 71-year-old author spoke about Blue following in the footsteps of her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

This comes after Blue got people talking with her performance alongside Beyoncé during the tour which lasted from April to July 2025.

While speaking to PEOPLE Magazine, Knowles revealed that she is not sure if Ivy truly wants to venture into music. However, she noted, “She can do so many things,” citing that Blue excels in painting and poetry, and could succeed at anything she does.

“I think she would be great at music, [she] would kill it. But I don’t think that that’s her passion,” Knowles further added, boasting that her granddaughter is a really creative person.

Blue Ivy Is Considering A Name In The Music Industry Already

Still, it appears the fame from the tour may have instigated Blue into embracing the musical part of herself. According to sources, the 13-year-old “is considering starting her own career in music.”

As The Blast reported, the teenager seems determined to take things a notch higher, as she is not relying solely on her mom to break into the industry. An insider revealed that she is also getting help from her aunt, Solange Knowles.

“Blue is also writing material with help from Solange,” the source shared, adding that some of Beyoncé’s favorite writers are quietly penning demos for her in anticipation of a solo album.

With stardom in sight, Beyoncé has already secured approval to trademark Ivy’s name. A PR expert mentioned that this move by the pop star reflects her keen awareness of personal branding and legacy building, while also preventing unauthorized use of Blue Ivy’s name.

A Close Look At Blue Ivy’s Portfolio As A Budding Musician

Blue’s journey into music didn’t just begin with her tour appearances. She has a history of creative sparks that hinted she might one day tread the same path as her parents.

At seven, Blue was featured in Beyoncé’s “Homecoming: The Live Album” with her own rendition of the hymn “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” She also featured in her mom’s Grammy-winning hit “Brown Skin Girl,” which marked her major musical debut, per Paper Magazine.

Four years later, Blue raised her music bar again when she performed a duet with her mom during a live show in Dubai.

She also had a standout moment at JAY-Z’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction when she rhymed, “Congrats S. Carter, ghostwriter, you paid the right price, so we just make your hits tighter.” Her line added more color to the rapper’s “Ride or Die.”

Blue Ivy’s Sister Rumi Carter Got People Raving Too

Ivy wasn’t the only one shining on tour. She shared the stage spotlight with her younger sister, Rumi.

During a segment of Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” tour, Rumi joined her mom on stage to perform “PROTECTOR.” The little girl has even embraced the attention she received from being on stage.

Tina Knowles previously spoke about the sweet moment, saying, “You know my granddaughter Rumi told me, I said, ‘How do you feel when you wave and everybody screams?’ She responded, ‘It feels powerful.’ This revealed just how much Rumi loves the spotlight.

However, Rumi’s performance also came with an onstage lesson from her grandmother.

During the May 1 stop of the record-breaking tour, Rumi, Blue, Beyoncé, and Knowles were all on stage after Beyoncé praised her mother for reaching No. 1 on the New York Times Best-Sellers list.

At one point, Rumi reached for the same microphone Beyoncé was using, and Knowles quickly intervened. Explaining the incident, Knowles said, according to The Blast:

“No, it really wasn’t that. It was just that she was reaching for the mic because she wanted to say something, and I realized that. But she was pulling, and I was like, ‘Oh God, that’s all that needs to happen is that the mic hits her in the face, and they say ‘Oh, Beyoncé hit her in the face.’”

Her quick reaction, she explained, was simply to protect her granddaughter.
