AMC Networks has officially tapped a new cast member, who will be joining the upcoming third season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Production on the new installment is currently underway in Boston.
Who is the latest The Walking Dead: Dead City cast addition?
According to Deadline, Emmy Award nominee Jimmi Simpson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Westworld) has been cast to play the series regular role of Dillard in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3. Further character details about Dillard are still being kept under wraps. This marks Simpson’s latest TV project, after starring in 2024’s Dark Matter show and in the latest installment of Peacock’s Twisted Metal series.
“In season three, Maggie and Negan finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse, but when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?,” reads the synopsis.
The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 stars returning franchise vets Lauren Cohan as Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. Besides Simpson, Lucifer’s Aimee Garcia has also been tapped for the role of Renata. After leading the creative team during the first two seasons, series creator Eli Jorné is exiting the show as its showrunner. Replacing him as the new showrunner for Season 3 is Seth Hoffman, who previously executive-produced and wrote episodes for the original Walking Dead series. Cohan and Morgan are serving as executive producers alongside Scott M. Gimple, Brian Bockrath, and Colin Walsh.
