Reacher’s Alan Ritchson and comedian Kevin James team up for an unexpected crossover in the new Playdate poster. The action comedy, part of Prime Video’s original content, will premiere on the streaming service on November 12, 2025.
Alan Ritchson and Kevin James-led Playdate gets new poster
Prime Movies unveiled a new poster for its upcoming movie, Playdate, on X (formerly Twitter).
The poster features a close-up of Kevin James and Alan Ritchson‘s faces, surrounded by plastic balls similar to those found in a children’s ball pit, and with what seems to be multiple targeting lasers pointed at them. The poster also features the tagline, “PLAYTIME JUST GOT REAL”, along with the release date, which is November 12.
The trailer, which was released on Prime Video’s YouTube channel on October 8, showcases Brian (Kevin James) and Jeff (Alan Ritchson) as two fathers who meet for a casual playdate with their sons. However, their day turns into a chaotic adventure as mercenaries attack them. As bullets fly over their heads, Jeff drives everyone away, leading to high-octane moments.
Believing Brian knows Jeff’s secrets, the mercenaries target him and his kids. Despite its intense action sequences, the trailer is filled with comedic moments, as Jeff handles the situation with a more lighthearted attitude, contrary to Ritchson’s brooding persona in Reacher.
The description of the movie on the video reads, “An afternoon playdate between two stay-at-home dads (Kevin James and Alan Ritchson) turns into high-stakes chaos.”
The movie’s cast also includes Benjamin Pajak as Lucas and Banks Pierce as CJ, who portray Brian and Jeff’s sons, respectively. Additionally, Alan Tudyk, Sarah Chalke, Stephen Root, and Isla Fisher will also appear in the movie.
Luke Greenfield has directed the movie. His most notable works include other comedy films such as The Girl Next Door and Let’s Be Cops. Neil Goldman serves as the movie’s lead writer. He has previously worked on popular TV comedies like Scrubs, Community, and Apple TV+’s Shrinking.
