Legendary actor Robert De Niro is calling on Americans to join him and take to the streets for upcoming “No Kings” protests calling out and resisting President Donald Trump and his agenda. The protests are set to take place on October 18.

On Thursday (October 9), De Niro spoke out against Trump in a video shared on the Instagram page for the Indivisible Project. According to Indivisible’s official website, the social movement organization “was founded in response to Trump’s election.” The site continues to explain:

“Brought together by a practical guide to resist the Trump agenda, Indivisible is a movement of thousands of group leaders and more than a million members taking regular, iterative, and increasingly complex actions to resist the GOPs agenda, elect local champions, and fight for progressive policies.

We face two fundamental problems: first, our democracy was rigged from the start in favor of the white and wealthy. Second, in the last few decades, an alliance of white nationalists and the ultra-rich have been actively working to further undermine democracy and cement their hold on power permanently. That’s how we ended up with Trump.

We have to build a democracy that reflects a broad, multiracial ‘we the people,’ one that works for all of us and is sustained by all of us. Only then will we be able to achieve a progressive vision for our future.”

Robert De Niro Calls Out Donald Trump Ahead Of ‘No Kings’ Protests After Slamming At Cannes Film Festival

In the produced video, De Niro called out Trump and said:

“The original ‘No Kings’ protest was 250 years ago. Americans decided they didn’t want to live under the rule of King George III. They declared their independence and fought a bloody war for democracy.

We’ve had two and a half centuries of democracy since then, often challenging, sometimes messy, always essential. And we fought in two world wars to preserve it.

Now, we have a would-be king who wants to take it away, King Donald The First F**k that! We are rising up again this time, non-violently raising our voices to declare, ‘No Kings.’ I’m Robert De Niro, asking you to stand up and be counted in the nationwide ‘No Kings’ protest on October 18th… We’re all in this together, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

As mentioned the nationwide “No Kings” protests are scheduled for October 18. At least 2,000 demonstrations are set to take place, according to one of the Indivisible Project’s Facebook accounts.

De Niro’s latest calling out of Trump arrives after he previously called him “America’s philistine president.” He made the declaration while at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. At the time, De Niro shared a speech while accepting the Palme d’Or lifetime achievement award. He said:

“In my country, we are fighting like hell for the democracy we once took for granted, and that affects all of us. That affects all of us here because the arts are democratic. Art is inclusive, it brings people together, like tonight. Art looks for truth. Art embraces diversity. And that’s why art is a threat. That’s why we are a threat to autocrats and fascists.”
