Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake returns for a second season, and as you’ll see things are getting even more chaotic. HBO Max dropped the first trailer for the new season during New York Comic Con, giving fans a peek at what’s next for the fan-favorite duo after their multiverse-saving debut.
After saving the multiverse in Season 1, Fionna and Cake are now living like total legends in their world, celebrated heroes who are finally able to kick back and enjoy their fame.
The new season promises plenty of wild new adventures for our heroes. There’s a princess invasion, monstrous beasts to battle, and even a reunion with a grown-up Finn.
The chaos doesn’t stop there, as Huntress Princess (Ashly Burch) joins the mix on her own mysterious quest, one that might throw the entire multiverse back into danger.
The footage is packed with everything fans love about the Adventure Time world: ridiculous drum solos, over-the-top battles, banana guards, and a healthy dose of absurd fun.
The biggest tease, though, seems to be Fionna herself struggling to adapt to her newfound status as a hero. Fame and glory come with their own kind of challenges, and it looks like Season 2 will dig into what it means for her to find purpose beyond saving the world.
Fionna & Cake Season 2 premieres October 23 on HBO Max, with new episodes dropping every Thursday through December 25.
