Marvel has made a handful of series since the launch of the MCU, with some remaining fan favorites, and others falling flat. The studio’s head of TV, Brad Winderbaum, has some behind-the-scenes insights into the past and future of Marvel’s shows, and he has some glowing things to say about the series that kind of started it all.

Winderbaum appeared on Phase Hero’s live show from New York Comic-Con (via SuperHeroHype), where he praised the ABC show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., saying, “That show really holds up. There’s moments in that series where they hit their stride and there will be a string of like 5-6 episodes that are incredible.”

Originally premiering in 2013, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ran for seven seasons, and aired over 130 episodes throughout its run.

The show was created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen, with Jed Whedon, Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell serving as showrunners. The series was notable for being the first TV series set in the MCU, and followed the agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D.

The show introduced several characters that fans hoped to see cross over into the MCU films, like Ghost Rider, who was portrayed by Gabriel Luna.

With five years between the show’s end and present day, it seems less and less likely we will see those same actors return, but the characters still have a chance.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is available to watch in its entire seven season run on Disney+.
