I feel like FMV (full-motion video) games are mostly known as a relic of the past with most of them being seen as extremely cheesy and not very good.
A lot has changed over the years though and with modern technologies being a bit more accessible, I think there are some gems out there.
If you’re a fan of FMVs or are interested in exploring some more modern titles, Fanatical has your back. The Build Your Own FMV Adventures Bundle (affiliate link) lets you get up to 15 FMV titles for a ridiculously low price. If you get 3-4 titles, each game costs $1.65 (total of $4.95-$6.60 before tax), or if you get at least five of the games in your bundle, each game costs $1.60 ($8 minimum before tax).
I went ahead and watched the trailer for each of the 15 games on the list. If I were to get a bundle, it would include Not For Broadcast, Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus?, Murderous Muses, The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker, and Late Shift.
I would also consider adding The Shapeshifting Detective and Bloodshore. Typically, I like FMV games that involve mysteries for me to solve and are about finding clues to help tell the story or discover the “real” story being told.
That said, if you want something lighter, Five Dates and Ten Dates definitely appear to be more of that as romantic comedies. Meanwhile, fans of supernatural and horror type FMVs will probably be drawn towards Night Book, The Complex, and The Bunker.
FMV games that I’ve enjoyed in the past include The Operator and Her Story, but what are some FMV games that you enjoy? Which of the 15 titles would you include in your bundle?
