U.S. President Donald Trump Visits South Korea, President Lee Jae Myung Gives Him Highes National Honor
President Lee gifted Trump with the Grand Order of Mugungwha, South Korea’s highest honor. It included a massive gold crown and medallion necklace, plus a dinner featuring “beef patties with ketchup.”
A Korean translator reportedly told Trump that the crown is a replica of one worn by kings of the historic kingdom of Silla. They said it was a remake of “the largest and most extravagant of the six existing crowns from the Silla period.” The Silla kingdom once ruled most of Korea. It was based in Gyeongju for about 1,000 years between 57 BC and 935 AD.
Speaking to President Lee, President Trump said, “It’s as beautiful as it can possibly be… I’d like to wear it right now.” President Lee claimed he was recognizing Trump for his efforts on improving relations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Meanwhile, ahead of Trump’s visit to South Korea, local protesters rallied against the U.S. president.

As mentioned Trump’s meeting in South Korea arrives weeks after the “No Kings” protests in America. On (October 18), more than 2,500 demonstrations took place across all 50 states. During the June “No Kings” protests, over 5 million protesters in over 2,100 rallies across all 50 states took to the streets to target Trump. In October’s demonstrations, another two million hit the streets.
Ahead of the October protests, Republicans argued that this second wave of mass “No Kings” protests is simply an effort to distract from the current government shutdown battle and to appease the Democrats’ base.
