Warner Bros. has entered the final negotiations to acquire a brand new sci-fi movie, titled Shiver, with John Wick vet Keanu Reeves attached to lead the cast. Reeves is no stranger to the sci-fi genre, as he’s best known for his iconic role as Neo in The Matrix franchise. He also appeared in other sci-fi movies like 1995’s Johnny Mnemonic, 1996’s Chain Reaction, 2008’s The Day the Earth Stood Still, and 2018’s Replicas.
Who is involved in Keanu Reeves’ newest sci-fi movie?
According to THR, Shiver will be directed by Deadpool’s Tim Miller from a screenplay written by Ian Shorr. Kingsman franchise director and creator Matthew Vaughn has also signed on to produce the project with Aaron Ryder.
The movie’s plot and character details haven’t been officially disclosed, but it will reportedly follow the story of “a ne’er-do-well smuggler who finds himself in the middle of a deadly double-cross while on a job in the Caribbean Sea, resulting in him being surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and thirsty sharks alike. He next finds himself in a deathly time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.” It is also being described as in the same vein as Tom Cruise’s Edge of Tomorrow and Blake Lively’s The Shallows.
Reeves most recently starred in Lionsgate’s John Wick spin-off Ballerina and Aziz Ansari’s angel comedy Good Fortune. Besides Shiver, he will also next be seen in Jonah Hill’s black comedy movie Outcome, along with Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer. He is also currently attached to star opposite Kirsten Dunst in the satire comedy The Entertainment System is Down.
