Comedian and actor Mike Epps is going viral after commenting SNAP benefits and the Black community, further explaining why he was “glad” that the Donald Trump administration temporarily “cut off food stamps” for over 42 million Americans.

On November 12, the longest government shutdown in U.S. history ended after 43 days. Before that, on November 9, Senate Democrats caved Republicans to end the shutdown. On November 12, the House followed and passed the bill to end the shutdown and fund the government through January 30.

Later that night, Donald Trump officially ended his second government shutdown in two terms by signing the bill. Ahead of the big moment, the Trump administration agreed to issue full payments on SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits “within 24 hours” of the shutdown’s end.

Supreme Court Grants Donald Trump Administration’s Appeal To Temporarily Block Full Funding Of SNAP Benefits Amid Government Shutdown

Before all of this, on October 31, a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to use contingency funds to pay out SNAP benefits payments as a temporary pause to food stamps loomed beginning on November 1. Trump reacted to the news on Truth Social and said:

“Our Government lawyers do not think we have the legal authority to pay SNAP with certain monies we have available, and now two Courts have issued conflicting opinions on what we can and cannot do. I do NOT want Americans to go hungry just because the Radical Democrats refuse to do the right thing and REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT. Therefore, I have instructed our lawyers to ask the Court to clarify how we can legally fund SNAP as soon as possible. It is already delayed enough due to the Democrats keeping the Government closed through the monthly payment date and, even if we get immediate guidance, it will unfortunately be delayed while States get the money out. If we are given the appropriate legal direction by the Court, it will BE MY HONOR to provide the funding, just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay. The Democrats should quit this charade where they hurt people for their own political reasons, and immediately REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT. If you use SNAP benefits, call the Senate Democrats, and tell them to reopen the Government, NOW! Here is Cryin’ Chuck Schumer’s Office Number: (202) 224-6542.”

By November 3, the administration backtracked, adamantly declaring it would only “partially” fund SNAP benefits. The statement arrived after at least two federal judges ordered the continuation of the food aid program. On November 6, a federal court judge again ordered Trump to fully fund SNAP.

Immediately after, the Trump administration appealed the decision to the First Circuit Court of Appeals. In the appeal, the administration requested an emergency block. The White House claimed it would only cough up 65% due to families relaying on government food stamps.

On November 7, the Supreme Court granted the Trump administration’s appeal, temporarily blocking the federal order demanding a full funding of SNAP amid the shutdown.

Hours after the government reopened, Mike Epps appeared in a new interview on ‘The Breakfast Club.’ In a November 13-released episode, Epps spoke about his career, latest moves in the industry, and other hot topics, including the Donald Trump administration’s recent block on fully funding SNAP benefits.

During his interview, Epps said:

“I told people when these food stamps and stuff get cut off, ‘Don’t worry about that.’ See, Black people, we’ve been getting our sh*t cut off. We’ve been getting our doors kicked in and stuff. This is not for us. So don’t take this as personal about the food stamps and all that.

I’m actually glad they’re cutting some of these n***as off food stamps because some of us need to not be on food stamps, because it’s a trickle-down effect. You get the food stamps, then you go buy the food that gives you cancer, then you eat the food that gives you cancer, then you’re sad, you’re walking around here upset, your diet’s f**ked up. Now, I’m gonna tell you some honest God truth. Your diet done sent a lot of n***as to prison.”

When host Charlamagne Tha God told Epps that folks would start calling him “MAGA Mike,” and be viewed as the new poster boy for Fox News, he remained unbothered. He said:

“You think so? Listen, brothers and sisters. ‘Brothers and sisters! You don’t know what this world is coming to!’ No, listen to this. No, they can’t say that about me. See, that’s one thing about me and little Boosie Badazz: we can’t be canceled. F**k the internet! I don’t give a f**k about the internet. B*tch a** n***a. And everybody out there that think they wanna be mad and say something: f**k you, man!”
