Wendy and Eddie Osefo are calling out prosecutors with a joint statement from their legal team, which includes Jeremy Eldridge, Esq., Clarissa Lindsey, Esq., and Joseph Murtha, Esq.

After the Real Housewives of Potomac couple, both 41, were accused of using aliases and being faced with a “substantial debt,” which the State hoped to prove was the motivator for their alleged insurance fraud, Wendy and Eddie took to Instagram, where they slammed the publicization of their case, denied using different names on financial documents, and claimed prosecutors were pushing a “false narrative.”

“At the outset, Police failed to properly investigate the initial burglary despite clear indications of a break-in, displaying clear bias against the Osefo family. The Osefos heard nothing but silence from police for over 18 months despite complete cooperation and requests for updates. It is common knowledge that other Real Housewives cast members have also been victimized after documenting their travel on social media, yet none faced this level of scrutiny or criminal charges,” they began in their November 20 post. “We believe it is deeply unjust for the Sheriff’s Office of the State’s Attorney for Carroll County to publicly expose confidential financial information about Eddie and Wendy Osefo.”

According to the Osefos, the “most disturbing” part of the State’s investigation against them is the fact that it seemingly didn’t begin until after they brought charges against them.

“[This] is a highly irregular approach that raises serious concerns about motive and fairness. The public release of the family’s private financial details serves no lawful purpose and only invites conclusory opinions about a case the State is obviously still investigating,” they continued.

Wendy and Eddie also responded to the claims of using aliases.

“The Osefos have never used an alias on any financial application; this allegation is false and misleading. Such names were used for the delivery of packages, following their lawful purchase, to safeguard the identity of very public figures,” they explained. “It is ironic for the State to assert or exaggerate the existence of any purported debt in connection with this accomplished professional couple. Due process is paramount to the administration of justice, and its breach by misleading the public with a false narrative has only compounded the harm.”

“The defense is confident the Court will prevent any further violation of the Osefos’ right to a fair trial,” the statement concluded.

Meanwhile, in a comment, a follower of Wendy also questioned prosecutors and their public statements about her and Eddie.

“They’re moving so weird regarding this ‘investigation.’ Why is everything being publicized? It’s like they’d rather hold court for the public eye instead of in an actual courtroom??? I hope y’all can sue these people,” the person wrote.

In response, Wendy appeared to agree as she added a target emoji.
