CBS Saturday Morning co-hosts Dana Jacobson and Michelle Miller bid a tearful goodbye on their final broadcast of the weekend news program.

“After seven long years of welcoming you to the weekend, our time here is coming to a close,” Miller began, as she reached out to clasp Jacobson’s hand. “CBS Saturday Morning will still be here with the latest news and all the stories you expect from CBS News. We wish our colleagues the best.”

Jacobson added, “While it wasn’t our choice to leave, we did have one in how we get to say goodbye, including a chance to say thank you to the amazing producers, photographers, audio engineers, editors, makeup and hair stylists, assistants and floor crew and wardrobe — everybody who is a part of each and every story we told. Without them, there is no us.”

Continuing, Jacobson — who previously spent a decade at ESPN — grew emotional as she recalled her time on Saturday Morning: “What a gift that this show was. I got to travel the globe and be a storyteller again, do what I love most: interviews, talking and learning about people, then bringing their stories and experiences to you.”

“But what has made this job even more of a gift is all of you. At the airport, the gym, Celtics game or while I was even walking [my dog] Barkley, so many of you stopped me to share your love of Saturday Morning, how much you appreciated the escape and the knowledge that we’ve provided,” Jacobson said, her voice breaking. “Thank you for making me feel like what I do is something that matters — what we do, matters.”

Miller also recalled her history prior to the news show, recounting her experience of arriving in New York City 22 years ago with “no job, no prospects, just a gritty reporter with a network of colleagues who gave me a shot.”

She concluded, “SatMo gave us the opportunity to amplify stories that matter, from all vantage points and the time to tell them fully. To our viewers, thank you for giving us the inspiration and the confidence to dig deeper. Every story I ever told has reminded me that change is not an ending; it’s an evolution, and I might add, a chance to gain a brighter sense of belonging.”

With a final signoff, the two co-anchors clinked glasses of champagne and gave a final shoutout to executive producer Brian Applegate, senior broadcast producer Tony DiPolvere and previous host Anthony Mason.

Last month, it was announced Miller and Jacobson would be departing as part of a series of layoffs that hit Paramount‘s CBS News. The weekday CBS Mornings team will now oversee the Saturday show.

The firings affected close to 100 CBS News staffers and were part of a round of layoffs impacting about 1,000 across Paramount following Skydance’s acquisition of the global conglomerate. Another 1,000 job cuts are expected in the coming months.
