DCU’s Green Lanterns series teaser debuts at HBO Max Upfront
At the HBO Max Upfront event held in São Paulo on November 25, 2025, DC Studios unveiled the first teaser trailer for its upcoming series Lanterns, as reported by Omelette.com.
The teaser, not yet released online, shows Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) training together for several months. It presents Hal as a “substitute teacher” figure, though it does not reveal whom he replaces. The footage includes a brief scene of Hal flying and mentions Ch’p, DCU’s fourth Green Lantern after Guy Gardner, Hal, and John. Ch’p is a squirrel-like Green Lantern Corps member from the comics.
The teaser sets the story in rural areas of the United States. It uses a western tone and brownish hues in both the setting and costumes. Stewart and Jordan argue, with Stewart claiming he outperforms Hal in saving lives. The preview does not show either character in an official Green Lantern uniform.
The eight-episode series follows Stewart and Jordan as they investigate a murder in the American heartland, possibly involving a Green Lantern Corps member. The case leads to Stewart receiving his power ring and uncovering a dark, Earth-based mystery.
Executive producers Damon Lindelof, Chris Mundy, and Tom King co-wrote the story. Mundy stated, “Our show is in a lot of ways about replacement—when should someone step aside and when is it time for the next person to take the reins?” (via Men’s Health)
The cast includes Garret Dillahunt and Kelly Macdonald. Nathan Fillion returns as Guy Gardner, reprising his role from Superman.
The series is expected to premiere in the second half of 2026 on HBO and HBO Max.
