The crew from Scrubs is officially scrubbing back in and fans finally have their first look at what the new series is bringing to ABC. A fresh teaser has arrived and longtime fans of the comedy will recognize the energy immediately.
If you were hoping for familiar faces, heartfelt chaos and those classic JD daydreams, this first peek makes it pretty clear that the revival is leaning straight into everything fans loved about the original run.
Zach Braff, stepping back into JD Dorian’s sneakers after fifteen years, sets the tone right away with one line fans will instantly latch onto. “I’m back, baby!,” exclaims Dr. JD Dorian in the first teaser for the new Scrubs series.
It has been a long time since JD walked away from Sacred Heart to take a job as a residency director so he could be closer to his son, but the nostalgia hits fast in the new footage.
The teaser also gives fans a glimpse at Donald Faison’s Turk and Sarah Chalke’s Elliot. The gang returns under the guidance of Bill Lawrence, who created the original series and is once again steering the ship.
ABC gave the revival a straight to series order back in July and there is a clear confidence behind this new chapter.
According to the description, it will follow JD Dorian and Christopher Turk, who scrub in together for the first time in a long time. Medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.
Lawrence executive produces, while longtime Scrubs veterans Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra step in as showrunners and executive producers. Hobert previously served as a writer, executive producer and consulting producer on the original series and Batra was a writer and story editor.
The original Scrubs aired from 2001 to 2008 on NBC before moving to ABC for its final two seasons from 2009 to 2010. Lawrence has explained that this revival is something of a blend, calling it both a revival that revisits the characters well over a decade later and a reboot that welcomes in new interns to experiment with the show’s core concept.
The Scrubs reboot premieres February 25 on ABC and will stream on Hulu.
