Peacock has finally granted a series order to the upcoming scripted TV adaptation of Clue, based on the iconic Hasbro board game of the same name. This comes nearly two months after Netflix ordered a reality competition series, which will also be inspired by the classic murder mystery game. Both projects are part of Sony Pictures’ 2024 deal with Hasbro for the movie and TV rights to the classic board game.

What do we know about Peacock’s Clue TV show?

“Clue brings a modern twist to the colorful cast of iconic characters. When a group of strangers is invited to an eccentric billionaire’s murder mystery night to solve the famous questions — who, where, and with what — they quickly discover that nothing is what it seems to be, and the stakes are even higher than life or death,” reads the logline.

The Peacock adaptation will be written and executive-produced by showrunner Dana Fox, with Nicholas Stoller serving as its director. Executive producers are Stoller, Hasbro Entertainment executive Gabriel Marano, Margy Love of Fox’s company Foxy, Inc., and Conor Welch of Stoller Global Solutions.

In 1985, the Hasbro game was adapted into a movie centering around players figuring out which of the guests at a mansion murdered someone, with which murder weapon, and in which room. It was directed by Jonathan Lynn, who also worked on the script with John Landis. The cast included Eileen Brennan, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, and Lesley Ann Warren. Despite not performing well at the box office, the movie was still able to garner a cult following.
