Is Doctor Doom getting a new rival for the MCU? The latest rumor suggests that the character may not be enemies with who fans would expect in Avengers: Doomsday.
Fans have a lot of reservations about Doctor Doom making his MCU debut in Avengers: Doomsday. However, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing fans are looking forward to. In fact, there’s at least a small amount of hope in the fact that Mister Fantastic will be meeting his iconic rival on such a big stage, allowing the scale of their conflict to match some of the duos’ greatest comics.
However, it seems as though Mister Fantastic may not be Doctor Doom’s rival after all. A fresh rumor from VariableLace reveals that the villain’s rival in Avengers: Doomsday WON’T be Reed Richards, but rather Captain America. In fact, it seems as though the conflict between Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers will be the core conflict of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga finale.
Oh yeah btw, I hear Doomsday is mostly Doom Vs. Steve so do with that what you will

Doctor Doom’s Plan In Avengers: Doomsday
This rumor lines up with previous reports that have come out about Doctor Doom’s new origins in the MCU. Reportedly, Doctor Doom’s plan in Avengers: Doomsday was spurred by the death of his wife and son due to an incursion. Which, if the rumor mill is to be believed, were started by Captain America’s time travel shenanigans in Avengers: Endgame.
It certainly makes sense then as to why Captain America would be the main rival to Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Despite this, it can’t help but be a little disappointing that the MCU won’t be fully adapting the character’s dynamic with Mister Fantastic, at least anytime soon.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
