Jimmy Kimmel will continue hosting his late-night ABC series for another year or “until the world ends – whichever comes first”.

It emerged earlier today that Jimmy Kimmel Live! was renewed through May 2027 after Kimmel extended his deal for a further deal.

He joked on tonight’s show that the last thing he wanted to do was to upset President Trump “during this sensitive time”, but that he has news. “I have one more bit of entertainment news to share. I have decided to extend my contract here at ABC for another year,” he said. “Our show has been renewed until May of 2027. Or until the world ends – whichever comes first.” “I was giving a lot of thought and decided I would like to spend less time with my family, and so to our audience here and at home – I’m honored and humbled to be a part of your routine. Whether it’s in bed at night, or during your morning toilet time,” he added.

Kimmel also paid tribute to his staff, before calling out his sidekick Guillermo Rodriguez for leaving him stranded at a recent Christmas karaoke party.    The comedian also responded to recent comments by President Trump, who said that Kimmel was a “horrible” host of the Kennedy Center Honors, which Kimmel said that he has never hosted.

“Donald Trump was the host of the show, he’s been boasting, saying we’ve never had a President host the Kennedy Center Honors before,” he said. “Why do you think that is? We’ve also never had Neil Patrick Harris order a military strike on a fishing boat before.”

“I’m starting to think he’s got a crush on me,” he added. “Let’s have a talent competition. I will come out and tell a few jokes, draw something and play my clarinet. He can play golf, spank a porn star and ruin the country.”
