If you’re a New Yorker or sports fans, you’re probably going to be here for this news! The New York Knicks are 2025 NBA CUP champions, and now there’s high hopes they can accomplish even more this season!

The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs 124–113 to win the NBA Cup in Las Vegas after being behind for most of the game. The Spurs had control early, but everything changed in the fourth quarter when the Knicks finally woke up. Jalen Brunson took over, scoring big buckets, setting up teammates, and staying calm, which is why he won NBA Cup MVP. OG Anunoby led all scorers with 28 points, consistently hitting shots when the Knicks needed them most, while Karl-Anthony Towns added strength inside with points and rebounds.

Mitchell Robinson helped by grabbing missed shots so the Knicks could try again, which wore the Spurs down. On the Spurs’ side, Victor Wembanyama and Dylan Harper scored, but the team clearly ran out of energy late.

The Knicks dominated the final minutes, pulled away, and held the lead until the clock hit zero, officially locking up the trophy. This is big for the team who hasn’t won a trophy since 1973 and hasn’t reached the Finals at all since 1999.

Point guard Jalen Brunson, who scored 25 points as the Knicks won the third edition of the mid-season tournament to claim their first silverware since winning the 1973 NBA Finals, was named the NBA Cup’s Most Valuable Player. He said post- game, “We found a way to win. That’s going to be our motto going forward: we’re going to find a way.”

The win will earn every Knicks player $530,933 in prize money, Meanwhile, the Spurs will have to settle for $212,373 each as runners-up.
