Whew! Charlamagne Tha God just reminded everybody why his name stays ringing in media circles. The radio heavyweight has locked in a massive five-year, $200 million extension with iHeartMedia, a deal that keeps him right where the culture wakes up every morning, The Breakfast Club while opening the door even wider for his bigger vision! That’s right!
At the heart of the deal is the continued expansion of The Black Effect Podcast Network, the platform Charlamagne launched with iHeartMedia back in 2020. What started as a space to amplify Black voices has now grown into a full-blown media machine, boasting over 60 shows and pulling in around 11 million downloads every month. And clearly he’s not done as his plans are already in motion to add at least 10 more shows in 2026.

Speaking with Forbes, Charlamagne explained that his goals are nothing small. “When I was looking at doing my new deal with iHeartMedia,” Charlamagne says,
“I was, like, ‘I don’t want to just be talent. I want to create this podcast network. I want to create the BET [Black Entertainment Television] for podcasting.’”
That vision is exactly why iHeartMedia is betting big. Chairman and CEO Bob Pittman didn’t hold back when talking about Charlamagne’s trajectory.
“Charlamagne,” says Pittman, “is on that course more than others. And there’s just not many of them that come along like that.”
While building his podcast empire, Charlamagne isn’t leaving his radio roots behind. He’ll continue hosting the nationally syndicated The Breakfast Club, airing weekdays from 6–10 a.m. ET, alongside DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, and Loren LoRosa, keeping his voice front and center in morning routines across the country.
Behind the scenes, his influence runs even deeper. Charlamagne already serves as Chief Creative Officer of the Black Effect Podcast Network, and with this new deal, he’s also stepping into the role of Senior Creative Officer of Cultural Content and Programming at iHeart. Translation: he’s not just part of the conversation, he’s helping decide what the conversation sounds like.
This deal isn’t just a win for Charlamagne. It’s a statement about where Black media is headed—and who’s leading the charge. Clearly isn’t just about staying on air. This is about ownership, influence, and building something that lasts, and we’re absolutely here for that!
Great work CTG!
