Hulk’s rage is building even bigger! A rumor suggests that the character may play a rather dark role in the story of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
To say that fans are excited to see Hulk in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is an understatement. It’s a team-up that fans have been begging to see for literal decades. However, despite this currently being one of the biggest draws for the film, the rumor mill has been all-but-silent about the role that the Green Goliath will play in movie’s plot.
That may be because any details about his role are actually a major spoiler. A rumor from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus reveals that Hulk’s story will actually tie into the core emotional thesis of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Namely, that suppressing a part of one’s self only causes rage and pain to ferment inside.
“The events of Brand New Day are going to force both of these characters to come face-to-face with their own personal trauma and guilt over the events of their past as they come bubbling to the surface. And you have to think about what effect that can have on these two characters, particularly.”
Hulk Is Angrier Than Ever Before
A film that heavily focuses on the mental health of Hulk is already something fans haven’t seen in nearly 20 years. However, it seems as though Spider-Man: Brand New Day will push the beloved hero further than ever before. The rumor goes on to detail Hulk’s journey in the film, suggesting that he may take the life of a key character.
“For Hulk, it’s similar, except it unleashes a big green monster on the rampage, angrier than he’s ever been before. In previous iterations, Hulk, dare I say, shows restraint in the MCU? Even during the events of Age of Ultron when he was under the control of the Scarlet Witch, people were seriously injured and scared, but if I recall, he never killed anyone.”
“In Brand New Day, he might get pushed to the point where he might just kill somebody….If what I’ve heard happens in Brand New Day comes to pass, he might just get hated even more.”
It’ll be interesting to see if Spider-Man: Brand New Day manages to successfully make Hulk do a heel turn, especially as the franchise barrels towards its biggest crossover in history. If this rumor is true, details about the character’s dark side will likely start to leak out as the first trailer for the film readies for release, likely dropping during next year’s Super Bowl.
