Name  Rome Ramirez

Best known for  Writing and performing songs that make people want to be outside in the water.

Current city  Nashville.

Really want to be in  I really want to go to Italy. I just want to eat all day and walk around and touch walls.

Excited about  Extremely excited about this album I’m working on and putting out more music into the world.

Preferred format  I prefer vinyl because the artwork calls at you. It inspires you to reach for the music. The whole process of even playing vinyl music is so intentional and special.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without:

1

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Lauryn Hill

I love this album because it feels like somebody telling the truth with zero filters. Lauryn poured every emotion straight into the mic, and you can feel it in your bones. This album inspired me to sing soulfully and honestly.

2

Sublime, Sublime

This one is part of my DNA. It’s the soundtrack of my youth. Punk, reggae, hip-hop, soul… who cares? This album made me want to start playing guitar and cracked open a passion in me that ultimately would change my life forever.

3

Rastaman Vibration, Bob Marley

This album is the earliest music memory I have. I remember being a child—sitting in my car seat listening to Bob’s voice and all the crazy instruments in this genre of music. As I grew, so did the music’s meaning to me. It’s still the reminder to stand tall, stay rooted, and keep love at the center even when the world gets loud.

4

Pain in My Heart, Otis Redding

This album is pure emotion and fire. My mom was very big on soul music in the house. Otis was no tricks, no polish, just a man with a voice that could break you open and put you back together in the same damn song! Otis taught me how to sing-sing and Pain in My Heart changed me forever.

5

Burrito Deluxe, The Flying Burrito Brothers

I love this album because it sits right at the crossroads of country, soul, and the West Coast spirit. All the stuff that’s in my blood as a songwriter. Gram Parsons had this effortless way of making heartbreak sound hopeful, and that’s always inspired me. This record reminds me that great songs don’t have to be loud to hit hard. It’s campfire music. It’s honesty. It’s California with a twang.
