One of the upsides of Prime Video‘s decision to spread out the release of Fallout season 2 is that there’s a sense of anticipation.
Cliffhanger endings don’t really work if you can simply binge the next episode immediately.
That’s ultimately a more satisfying way to enjoy the show than by dumping the entire season on a single day.

What Happened in ‘Fallout’ Season 2, Episode 2?
The prologue was a flashback to 2283, and it depicted the nuclear destruction of the Shady Sands settlement as alluded to in the first season finale. Now that we finally got a chance to witness it, the show revealed that the mind control tech of Robert House (Justin Theroux) was used to make a rider smuggle a nuclear bomb into the city. Maximus’ parents were able to save his life by hiding him in a lead-lined fridge, but everyone else in the city perished. And Hank MacLean (Kyle MacLachlan) was responsible for all of it.
In 2296, Hank continues to experiment with the mind control tech, but the heads of the mice and even the human subjects blow up when the device is set beyond a certain point. Hank’s daughter, Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell), and The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) were sidelined in their search for him when she insisted on helping a couple in need. The Ghoul murdered the man and explained that the pair are members of Caesar’s Legion.
Before The Ghoul could kill the other survivor, the group was attacked by Radscorpions that stung him and the woman. Lucy chose to save the woman with her last stimpak, but promised to retrieve The Ghoul after she saw the woman home. However, the woman seemingly set Lucy up to be captured by the Legion.

Lucy’s brother, Norm MacLean (Moisés Arias), had better luck in Vault 31, as he convinced the newly awakened Vault-Tec employees to help him find a way out. Under the guise of a test, Norm and his new followers escaped to the surface. Meanwhile, Maximus (Aaron Moten) claimed Area 51 as their new base. The elder assembled other Brotherhood leaders to plot a coup against the Commonwealth. Before they could take action, Paladin Xander Harkness (Kumail Nanjiani) of the Commonwealth unexpectedly crashed their party.
