Socialites, get a load of this: After a surprise U.S. military operation that ended with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro getting captured and flown out of his own country, Trump told reporters the U.S. isn’t just visiting…it’s staying.

The U.S. is “going to run the country,” Trump said during a press conference: “We are going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transitions,” he said. “So we don’t want to be involved with having somebody else get in and the same situation that we had for the last long period of years.” He added, “We’re there now. So, we’re going to stay until such time as we’re going to run it essentially until such time as a proper transition can take place.”

As we previously reported, all of this comes after U.S. forces hit Venezuela early Saturday morning, launching military strikes across key locations. During the operation, Maduro and his wife were captured, put on a plane, and removed from the country.

Back in the States, the pressure didn’t stop. A new indictment has Maduro facing charges tied to narco-terrorism and other serious crimes. Attorney General Pam Bondi made it clear this won’t be handled lightly.

He will “face the full wrath of American justice on American soil,” she said.

Venezuela’s attorney general says innocent civilians were killed during the strikes on facilities in Caracas and nearby areas, a reminder that when superpowers move, regular people feel it first.

This didn’t pop off overnight. The U.S. has been tightening the screws on Venezuela for months, stacking military forces in the Caribbean, intercepting two Venezuelan oil tankers packed with crude, and launching deadly strikes on boats it claims were pushing drugs.

Now Maduro is out, the U.S. is in, and Trump is openly saying America’s running the show.
