Are Deadpool and Wolverine stealing the spotlight in Spider-Man: Brand New Day? A rumor suggests one of the film’s stars will take on a new villain mantle in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While Avengers: Doomsday is set to be a victory lap for the heroes of Fox’s X-Men universe, Deadpool and Wolverine was a swan song for every Marvel villain to ever appear outside of the MCU. From the Juggernaut to The Russian and even Bullseye, the project served as a celebration of the best and weirdest antagonists that the genre has to offer.
Yet it seems one villain may be leaking into the mainline MCU. A rumor from Hollywood insider Cryptic4kQual suggests that Billy Clements, who played The Russian in Deadpool and Wolverine, will appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, he won’t be reprising his role as The Punisher villain. Rather, he’ll be taking on the mantle of the Marvel villain Ramrod.
Who Is Ramrod In Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Surprisingly, Ramrod has been a staple of the rumor mill around Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Prior to Deadpool and Wolverine star Billy Clements being floated as an actor for the villain, multiple reports have suggested that the lesser-known rogue will appear in the project alongside other minor villains such as Tarantula and Boomerang.
In the comics, Ramrod is a former oil worker whose entire skeleton was replaced by steel after being crushed in an accident (also, he was abducted by aliens). Given the villain’s backstory seems like a shoddy mix of Bullseye and the Wrecking Crew, it makes sense that Marvel wouldn’t go out of their way to find a major actor to portray the character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While it’ll likely be a welcome check for Billy Clements after Deadpool and Wolverine, it’s not likely he’ll return for any future MCU projects.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31st, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Spider-Man’s Marvel Cinematic Universe future!
