New details have emerged in the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a Minnesota mother who was shot and killed by ICE agent Johnathan E. Ross after dropping off her six-year-old child at school.
According to Associated Press, Good was on her way home with her partner when she encountered a group of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The circumstances surrounding the encounter remain under investigation. Good’s ex-husband told the outlet that she was not politically active and had never participated in protests, countering early speculation about her involvement in any activism. He also shared that Good and her partner had recently moved to Minneapolis from Kansas City, Missouri, less than a year before the shooting.
Partner’s Grief Caught on Video After Shooting
In video footage captured immediately after the incident, Good’s partner can be heard expressing visible grief and shock. “I made her come down here, it’s my fault,” she said in the aftermath of the shooting.
She also told a bystander that the couple did not have family or close support nearby, as they were still new to the neighborhood. She explained that their young child was already at school when the shooting occurred, leaving them isolated in the moments following the tragedy.
